NaNoWriMo

National Novel Writing Month is upon us.  I participated for the first time in 2011 and hit my 50,000 word goal with a novel titled Half-hand.  I never quite finished that novel because I decided to complete a trilogy I was working on first.  In 2012 I participated with the second book in my Kingdom of Haven trilogy titled Stenson Blues.  I fizzled out that year at around 25,000 words, but did complete the novel and published it in 2014.

After taking a couple of years off from the challenge, I decided to try it again this year.  This time I will not be working on a single novel, but will be tracking my word counts on a couple of drafts I’m currently wishing to complete.  First, I’m working on completing the first draft of the third book in the Kingdom of Haven trilogy.  I actually don’t have a title yet for this novel, but it currently sits at 67,893 words and I’m expecting to add another 30,000 – 40,000 words to it.  The next novel on the list is to complete Half-hand,  which I started in 2011 but shelved for the trilogy.  It’s currently at 89,690 words and I expect about another 20,000 words to complete the draft.  I do have a third draft in reserve in case I’m shy of the 50,000 words with these two.

I’ll be tracking my progress on the NaNoWriMo site, and will post a weekly update/word count here.

Wish me Luck!
