Stenson Blues Update

Stenson Blues, the second book in my Kingdom of Haven series, is coming soon.  The date has moved back, mostly because I decided to get it professionally proofed.  I debated the need, but in the end decided it was best for the project.  I’m looking at May 15th as my publishing date.

While I am waiting for this proof read to come back, I am working on the third book in the series.  Tentative title for this next book is Rise of the Wolf Lord.   Of course, that was the tentative title for Stenson Blues originally, so I can’t say it will stand.  So now I’m working on one of my favorite components of writing—research.  I love research and details.  With the main character traveling to another country, I’m getting all my background information together for this new land.  Also, he spends a bit of time on a ship, so I’m working on the ship details as well.  Don’t get me wrong, I know what the culture of this land looks like, but I’m going to be digging into more detail for the writing.

I know that some writers will cringe over this, but I typically research as I go.  My first drafts are very fluid.  Sometimes I stop for research and sometimes I put in a place holder to insert more detail later.  I don’t formally outline, but track scenes and chapters as I go, and keep a basic storyline in my head that is subject to change.  Basically, I know what the end looks like and a have a plan to get there, but I let the story flow where it will in between.
